A play is a form of literary work intended to be performed on stage, with dialogue and stage directions designed for actors to bring characters and scenes to life in a visual and auditory way. Unlike novels or short stories, plays rely on the collaboration and interpretation of actors, directors, and designers to fully realize the author's vision. Additionally, plays often emphasize themes related to performance, spectatorship, and the physical presence of actors in a shared space with an audience.
For me, the main difference lies in the setting. While a play, like a novel or short story, can have any setting, the writer has to keep in mind that eventually it will be performed. This means that the writer has to bear in mind that his vision of a setting he creates may be completely different from what the director or producer want the production setting to look like.
The differnts between a novel and a play is a novel is read, and a play is seen,You read and understand a novel, You watch and express emotions watching a play. <3
