Dissolving is when something is gone. When you mix salt into water, the salt will eventually get smaller and smaller until it is gone. You say 'The salt has dissolved' when the element/compound is gone.

Dissolving is when a solute (substance that can be dissolved in liquid) is mixed with a solvent (the liquid). A physical change occurs, and the particles in the solute break up into tiny pieces that seem naked to the human eye but are still there.

Dissolving and melting are not the same thing. To melt something requires heat; dissolving does not.

What are the similarities between the main reasons of the cold war and now?

The cold war was two sets of NUCLEAR ARMED NATIONS that were each at a military stand-off, both sides just waiting for an EXCUSE to begin shooting nuclear missiles at each other. This stand-off physically ended in 1990. The two sets of Nuclear Armed Nations were heavily industrialized and formally structured; allowing diplomacy and negotiations to continue through out the whole cold war period of 1945 thru 1990 (the Berlin Wall came down in 1989, Soviet collapse started at that time; for classroom purposes the papers of dissolvement were signed in 1991). Today there are no formally declared nuclear adversaries. The communist nations of Red China and North Korea are (for NK possibly) nuclear armed, but have made no formally declared intention to carry on the cold war. The 21st Century challenge will be the control of nuclear weapons.

How to answer divorce papers?

You read them, see if everything in there is to a fair dissolvement and go to an attorney to have them read them over and sign them. If you have been served the other person obviously is moving on and there is no need to waste time, fighting and trying to change their mind. You just make sure that everything is split evenly and accordingly to the relationship. For instance, married 10 years no kids, everything the people had before the marriage they take with them and everything they acquired together is split evenly. Married 10 years, two kids, same as above and then add to it, the best possible place for the children to stay as a base home with fair and equal visitation and money to take care of the kids based on salary. If your married two years the 10 year rule can apply, too. Just make sure that no one has an unfair advantage and if one was wealthy before the marriage, depending on the years, then that is something that needs to be done fairly also. You cant expect to take have of something as yours after the fact.

How many southerners owned slaves in 1860?

Less than 20% of the Southern population owned African Americans. There are many misconceptions as to what caused and fueled the American Civil War. Slavery was indeed one of them. Increased tariffs on products shipped to northern ports was a significant one. Really significant was the South's secession from the union and voting its own President which angered Northerners greatly. It was a major investment to own an African American especially if they possessed valuable skills such as blacksmithing, carpentry, or farming skills. Certainly owning a black man or woman, was a prestigious classification, but very few Southerners and Northerners, fit in this category of wealth. Thus, the stories that have been perpetuated throughout history of all slave owners beating their "slaves" is quite inaccurate. It is a myth that the media of that time stimulated to build a case to send the North and South to war. In addition, politicians, many of them wealthy and slave-owners, were used as the example or model for the Southern population, when in fact the average Southerner lived day to day and could not afford to purchase another human being for $500-$1,500 . In addition, while many people have been taught that Southerners were the only ones who owned African Americans in the United States, Northern sentiment was possibly even more harsh toward African Americans. Blacks were beaten and even killed in city streets of New York City, New York, toward dissolvement in the mid to late 1800's, but it was the American Civil War which sped up the abolition. It depends heavily on the region. South Carolina had the largest percentage of the population who owned slaves. Areas of the coastal plain, which are areas within about 100-200 miles inland, were flat, fertile, sunny, and had the subtropical climate where cotton and especially rice thrive. Cotton and rice were sold and shipped to various ports, including Boston. Combined with the labor intensity of growing cotton and rice, farms growing them usually had slaves. Note that Africans had previously grown rice in Africa, so they were accustomed to the process. Areas in the mountains, as well as wooded, undeveloped areas (then called back woods), on the other hand, had few, if any, slaves.
