What is economic and non-economic activity?

Essentially the difference between economic and non economic activity is that economic activity are activities in the economy that contribute to the Gross Domestic Product [GDP] of the Nation. I.E if you provide/produce a good or service in exchange for money. example: you grow apples and sell them at the market- this is economic activity.

Non economic activity is just the opposite. Activity in the economy that does not affect GDP. My understanding is that it is essentially unpaid work. Like if you clean your house or mow your lawn and do not get paid for your time/efforts.

It can be difficult to separate economic activities from non-economic activities because virtually everything that people do has some kind of economic consequence. However, in general, things that involve earning, spending, saving, or investing money are economic in nature, and things that don't aren't. An example would be, buying a book is an economic activity, but reading the book isn't.
