Ferric acid refers to the compound Iron(III) oxide hydroxide, with formula FeO(OH) which has empirical formula HFeO2

But this compound is not acidic. Ferrate salts have the formula FeO4-2 , but their conjugate acid cannot be formed due to extremely unstable nature. These ferrates are also unstable, even decomposing at neutral pH. So instead, Ferric acid refers to another compound. But if it would have existed, its formula would have been H2FeO4

Ferric carbonate (aka iron III carbonate) is an ionic substance consisting of iron and carbonate ions. The word ferric means that the iron ion has a plus three charge. Therefore, the formula of this compound is Fe2(CO3)3.

It's a non-existent ionic compound with the formula Fe2Fe3. That would be two atoms of Iron(III), also known as ferric, each with a charge of +3, magically attracted to three atoms of Iron(II), which sometimes goes by the name of ferrous, each with a charge of +2. If this compound were to exist, it would have a charge of +12 per formula unit.

It's also said to be an important part of the Pi-water filtration system.

It could also be a great misunderstanding of how metal bonding works. Any chunk of metal contains metal cations, or positively charged atoms, floating around in an "electron sea." Iron is no exception to this rule, and thus it might be possible to call iron "ferric ferrous salt." However, two parts make it completely wrong. First of all, iron in a block cannot be said to be either ferric or ferrous, but rather as just a cation with a few electrons in its vicinity. And second, the word 'salt' suggests that this is an ionic compound, which it is not. Ionic compounds are between metals and non-metals, and have an overall charge of 0, while this imaginary compound is between two (pretty much identical) metals, with an overall charge of +12.

What is the difference between ferrous and ferric iron?

Ferrous ion carries a +2 charge and Ferric carries + 3

Is ferrous sulphate an acid or base?

No, it is a salt, of Iron and Hydrosulfuric acid

Why Ferrous ion carries a 2 charge and Ferric carries 3?

These are just the definitions of ferrous and ferric as they apply to iron compounds.

Is Ferrous and Ferric diatomic and triatomic?

No. Ferrous and ferric cations are divalent and trivalent respectively, but both are only single atom ions.

Ferric or ferrous in the body?

Iron can exist in the body as ferrous or ferric, depending on what part of the biological process iron is in. For instance, iron in the plus two-oxidation state is "ferrous". Iron in the plus three-oxidation state is ferric.

What type of magnetic charge do ferric and ferrous ions contain?

If you mean electric charge the ferric ion has a 3+ charge, the ferrous ion has a 2+ charge.

What are ferric metals?

elements which are magnetic in nature....Ferric or ferrous metals contain iron (Fe)

What is the charge on the ferrous ion in ferrous sulphate?

The Ferrous ion has a '2+' charge. Hence the formula for ferrous sulphate is FeSO4. NB The Ferric ion has a '3+' charge. Hence the formula for ferric sulphate is Fe2(SO4)3

Is IRON a non-ferrous metal?

No - iron - symbol Fe short for Ferrum - and hence Ferrous and Ferric is a FERROUS metal.
