Tenotomy means to cut a tendon. In this case the flexor carpi radialis tendon. This tendon doesn't run through the carpel tunnel itself. A few doctors do lump it with the other four that do go through the tunnel. By saying he released the carpi, he means that the cut tendon no longer is attached to the wrist bone it once went to. You must of had problems with the thumb.
At the link below, you will see this muscle and tendon. There is a "bar" holding the other tendons away from the flexor carpi radialis. This shows that is is not in the tunnel.
It is your doctor's mistake .

The doctor said I have carpal tunnel syndrome.
When your doctor advises you to do so. It varies on how severe the carpal tunnel was/is, but I would say 1-3 months.
It would be best to ask the doctor treating your for the Carpal Tunnel problem about this, as each person is different. Certainly you would not want to pursue a career that would make your Carpal problem worse.
Although I am not a doctor, I recommend two years. Your doctor may have a different opinion.
you could have Carpal Tunnel would be a good idea to have it checked it out by a doctor

I assume you mean carpal tunnel syndrome? The carpal tunnel is simply the area affected by the problem. There can be many causes of this, none of which are affected by the use of magnets. There has been no evidence to show that magnets help carpal tunnel at all. There has been double blind studies where the doctor nor the patient knows if they have the "real treatment" or the "fake treatment", and at the end they look at both groups..if the fake or placebo group does just as good or better than the tested or real treatment, you know it doesn't work. This type of study has been done with magnets to no avail.

Does a mild headache still mean you have a headache? Does a mild sprained wrist mean you have a sprained wrist. Yes, you either have carpal tunnel or you don't. The severity depends on whether you need an Advil or an operation. It's not a measure of degree of whether you have it or not, it's a measure of severity. Can you function with it or not? Talk to your doctor.
If you are experiencing simple aching of hands and wrists, you feel clumsy and fumble often when lifting light objects or even fumble when buttoning up a shirt, do not take it for granted! Those are the common and immediate symptoms of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. It is important that you seek the help of the doctor as soon as you experience those.http://www.eliminatecarpaltunnelpain.com/
