Iraqi governmental forces led by Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and their Peshmerga (Kurdish Armed Forces) Allies are attempting to subdue various Iraqi paramilitary groups to keep the nation unified. Neither the United States, nor any other nation is currently involved in that fight.

Indirectly. There was a fear that if Iraq developed weapons of mass destruction that he might sell them on the black market. However, the term "containment" is typically used in reference to Communism and, in that regard, containment was not a reason for going to Iraq.

The Iraq War began in 2003 and ended in 2011. The Insurgency in Iraq began in 2005 and continues to this day. (The difference in terminology is that the Iraq War was foreign powers fighting in Iraq to secure the country and the Insurgency is the Iraqi Government fighting in Iraq to secure the country.

You're not. The Iraq War ended with a whimper by May 2008 with Iranian-backed terrorists trying to destabilize the new democratic government of Iraq routed, and Iraq no longer the base for international terrorism it had been throughout the Saddam Hussein dictatorship.

The justification for the US going to war with Iraq is slightly open to question and debate. The main reason given was because they believed Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and they had to be disarmed. Many believe it was simply to remove Saddam Hussein though and some even think it was for reasons of oil.
