TAke it to auto zone and have them chack it out

Remove the positive cable from your 1999 Chevy battery. Remove the cables from the starter. Remove the starter retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new starter.

If you really want to save money ask them if they will install the starter if you bought the parts. This way you will only pay labor. If they will install your parts most likely they will not warranty anything if it should break, weigh your options.
