What is more popular bmx or mountain biking?
mountain biking definately
No such thing. Trials is a sub-sport of mountain biking, often called "mountain bike trials". It's a sport similar to motorcycle trials where one takes a light bike and hops around an obstacle course. You might have heard "BMX" and "trials" in the same sentence because a BMX bicycle can essentially make a good trials bike with minimal modifications.
Many sports are considered extreme sports. Some extreme sports include BASE Jumping, Bodyboarding, Extreme Canoeing, Cliff Jumping, Freestyle motocross, Hangliding, Extreme Biking, BMX: Vert, Street, Dirt, Freestyle (Flatland), Mountain Biking: Downhill, Freeride, Paragliding, Rock Climbing, and/or Sand Boarding.
It's more a question of "different" than outright "better". If you want to use your bike to get around with, then a mountain bike with gears and bigger wheels is better. It will be faster, less fatiguing and offer greater rider comfort. But if you want to do BMX style riding, with jumps and tricks and that, then a BMX is a better choice.
It is based on personal opinion and ability: It's skateboarding, the best extreme sport in the world and it will always be! Skateboarding is the best. BMX is fun but not near as popular and is hundreds of dollars more expensive Skating is 20 times better. BMX is way better, the only reason anyone likes skateboarding is because they are too afraid to ride BMX.
