Implies that is is able to act the same as the resource that is otherwise used. Such as bio-diesel instead of diesel, artificial wood over natural or solar energy over... Well that last one doesn't actually work as the resource is electricity and solar is just one of many ways of getting that resource. However Solar is a good alternative energy to most others.
