Egyptians are doing rituals, even sacrifices to pay respect and honor to their Gods in their daily life. This is because they believe that catastrophes and natural calamities are caused by the Gods.

Religion
It's hard to say how a focus on the afterlife may have affected everyday Egyptian life - I would liken it to modern Western society's fixation with pop-culture. Ever-present and unquestioned. As for how a focus on the afterlife may have affected the culture as a whole - I believe that because the beginnings of Egyptian religion date back to prehistory, that this is speculative. Yet it will no doubt be discussed and analysed for many more generations.
