Potassium hydroxide (KOH) is used for a number of things, mainly in industries and manufacturing. It works well in the manufacture of biodiesel and the glycerin from potassium hydroxide-processed biodiesel is useful as cheap food supplement for livestock, once the toxic methanol is removed.

Potassium hydroxide is also used in the manufacturing of soaps. Soaps made with potassium hydroxide are softer than the general sodium hydroxide-derived soaps.

There are more uses for potassium hydroxide, including it being used in petrol.
