Pus is actually the breakdown of certain cells used to fight infection. Pus is most commonly found with bacterial infections. The cells break down the bacteria and then they themselves break down into pus.

Pus means your white blood cells are attacking infections present on or in your body. Pus can be white, slightly yellow or green, and is relatively thick, approximately the same as Elmer's Glue. It's actually a collection of dead skin cells, white blood cells called neutrophils, and some bacteria that is still putting up a fight. It is a visible sign that you have an infection. A minor source of tiny amounts of pus, as in a pimple, merely needs to be washed and cleaned with an antiseptic. Many infections that show pus are derived from staph bacteria, which we all have in some amount on our skin.

Pus is formed when you have infection. It's made of white blood cells and damaged tissue and dead bacteria. Redness is from inflammation and irritation. Since I can't see your red bumps, there's no way of knowing whether they're just common acne or some other type of infection. You should see a doctor if they're very painful or if they're covering a very large part of your body and not just the face and upper back.

it shows your immune system is hard at work. Pus is thousands and thousands of dead white blood cells. They build up at the site where they "gave their all" - the site of the infection.
