i did my brakes most of the time it will only need an hour of my time to do both front brakes.....
Have them inspected by a competent mechanic, he or she will advise you. However it is reasonable to assume that after such a time the brake pads will need replacing.
I would have the ignition itself replaced. These go out all the time and will leave you stranded. Get a new ignition keyed to your current key and you won't have to do programming. A locksmith can do this for you. Do it soon though before it stops turning.

honestly it should not take a qualified mechanic more than 48 hrs to 'replace' a transmission? that's if he has really done his homework. repairs or service time may differ but mechanics must do our research 1st.
