In order for a Tsunami to form a large amount of water in the ocean has to be displaced. When an Earthquake occurs under the sea (due to the sudden release of pressure between tectonic plates) the sea bed moves causing water to be displaced. As the water rushes upwards it creates a series of large waves, Tsunami waves which travel extremely fast and can be devastating upon coastal cities.
Earthquakes and tsunamis are alike because an earthquake causes a tsunami wave, as the earthquake creates a force pushing the water to shore.
Underwater earthquakes create tsunamis from the shock created by the shifting tectonic plates.
They are related becausetsunamis come after an earthquake.
well the tettonic plates move to caus a ts
Earthquakes can cause a tsunami.
because god made it that way
Tsunamis are triggered by earthquakes due to vibrations.
No, because earthquakes can cause landslides but not tsunamis in other words earthquakes under the ocean can lead to tsunamis
tsunamis
Tsunamis do not have epicentres. Earthquakes do. Sometimes, as in the case of Japan, earthquakes cause tsunamis.
Earthquakes.
Yes. Earthquakes at subduction zones can trigger tsunamis.
Earthquakes are one (but not the only) cause of tsunamis.
Yes. Most tsunamis are triggered by earthquakes.
Mo, they are known as earthquakes but the earthquakes cause the tsunamis.
Earthquakes can trigger both landslides and tsunamis.
Tsunamis do not not cause earthquakes at all. Tsunamis are usually the result of an undersea earthquake.
Tsunamis are triggered by earthquakes due to vibrations.
No, because earthquakes can cause landslides but not tsunamis in other words earthquakes under the ocean can lead to tsunamis
Well, earthquakes do cause tsunamis. But only underwater earthquakes. Plus, they have to be a transform plate boundary earthquake(caused by subduction).Any displacement of water will cause a tsunami. In short, some underwater earthquakes cause tsunamis.
tsunamis
Of these things, earthquakes are the only ones that can cause tsunamis.
Tsunamis do not have epicentres. Earthquakes do. Sometimes, as in the case of Japan, earthquakes cause tsunamis.
