After what I can find you do not need their permission, you can give up your child for adoption if you want BUT...in the US there is the Indian Child Welfare Act. This is a federal law that deals with adoptive placement of Native children. The Act states that the children can be placed with adoptive families in the following order:

1) Native biological family

2) Native, same tribe, non-biological family

3) Native, different tribe, non-biological family

4) Non-native

So the tribe don't have to agree with you giving your child up but they have to agree to the adoptive placement of any tribal members (or the children of tribal members) and has up to 2 years from the date of finalization of the adoption to become involved.

So contact an adoptive agency so you can find a suitable family as soon as possible and in the meantime your child will be in foster care.

Siding with the british military helped or hurt the Native American cause?

It hurt the Native American cause because the colonists weren't likely to give the Native Americans permission to have their land back, so them siding against the colonists ensured they weren't going to get it back.
