The correct battery size for the '02 PT Cruiser is: 26R. The "R" means that the positive and negative posts are in a reversed position from a normal battery. Replacement is not as simple as it would be in most cars, but I found a how-to-video on YouTube that walked me through the process. I just replaced the OEM battery in my '02 and had a little trouble finding the proper size in my local retail shops. I chose an Optima yellow-top battery I found from a dealer on eBay (Optima Trays.) Optima batteries cost a little more, but are excellent. They have great cranking power and deep cycling abilities. This will probably be the last battery I have to buy for my PT.
