My ComEd bill was $65 per month during Aug - Oct and $90 per month during Nov - Mar when I lived in a one bedroom in Hyde Park. This year I moved to Columbus Plaza downtown, my bills for Aug to Oct were about the same as last year but my bills for Nov - Dec were shockingly high at $130 per month!
I use the same appliances as before but what the heaters provided by the apartment are different.
These bills include: 1 TV, 1 Microwave, 4 Floor Lamps (about 6hrs a day), Stove top (cook about once a week), 1 laptop, 1 Fridge, 1 coffee maker... pretty much.
One thing i noticed was my room at Columbus can't really insulate the freezing wind from outside. When I turn off my heater for about 10 mins, the room would be too cold to stay and I have to turn on the heater again.

In example, a two bedroom apartment in Chicago's very desirable and affluent "Gold Coast" neighborhood might run $2,500 per month while in the Gresham or Inglewood neighborhoods, a two bedroom apartment might run $700 per month. Using this example, the average price would be $1,600 per month (2,500+700 / 2).
