The most powerful handgun in the world would be a .500 Smith and Wesson X-Frame revolver. The most powerful rifle in the world would be the .950jdj developed by J.D. Jones of SSK Industries with a 3 600gr bullet and flys at 2 200 ft/s, the cartridges are $40 each!!!

Actually the 600 nitro express is the most powerfull pistol in the world and this ain't know guess I've done research the .500 Smith and Wesson is no match. Im a fan of smith and Wesson but when i saw the nitro express I hd to find out which one was more powerfull. But I agree with you on the rifle.

As far as what's in development, who knows? But as far as what's in active service, the South African Denel NTW-20x110 and Croatian RT-20 both fire a 20x110mm cannon round - far surpassing the .50 BMG. The .50 BMG rifles don't even come in second place - the Denel NTW and Gephard G3 can both fire the Soviet 14.5x115mm cartridge.

The .700 Nitro Express is often given as an answer for this question, but the .585 Nyati and .577 Tyrannosaur both eclipse it in terms of energy produced. Likewise, some loadings of the .50 BMG can match or outperform the .700 Nitro Express. It should also be noted that there are rifles manufactured which care capable of chambered the 14.5x115mm, 20x102mm, and 20x110mm cartridges, all of which are significantly more powerful than any dedicated rifle cartridge.

If you are looking for the high end of air Rifles then look into the PCP class of air rifles (PreCharged Pneumatic) these air rifles are used in the Olympic games and in serious hunting. PCP rifles are expensive but you get the very best in air rifles. They not only come in .177 caliber but also come in .20, .22, .25 9MM, 357 Cal, 45 Cal and 50 caliber pellets. They require a special air pump, Or Hand pump or Scuba tank to charge them to 3000 PSI. This is far beyond the common air rifle. They will cost you allot, in the range of $300 to $3,000. Benjamen currently has a starter PCP rifle called the Discovery. If you are looking for raw power then the Shinsung Dragon slayer fires a 50 caliber slug that is capable of bringing down a deer or moose, it cost $550. If you want a top end Match rifle then the Feinwerkbau 700 Aluminum Blue will cost you $3.395. Benjamin currently has an excellent PCP rifle called the Marauder ($500) that comes in .177, .22 and .25 caliber.

The most powerful airsoft guns include: The Cybergun 10in Barrel gas sparklet-operated Desert Eagle, The Tanaka K93 bolt-action and gas-assisted rifle, and the banned Tanaka Single Action Army gas-operated revolver. But a lot of sniper rifles can be upgraded to have their FPS increased significantly up to 500 FPS. (this power is banned on most airsoft fields and countries)

Actually,there is a "strongest rifle", these are the SCAR .It is manufactured in two main versions; Light (SCAR-L, Mk 16 Mod 0)and Heavy (SCAR-H, Mk 17 Mod 0). The L version fires 5.56x45mm NATO using improved STANAG (M16) magazines. The H fires the more powerful 7.62x51mm NATO from a newly designed 20-round magazine. Different length barrels will be available for close quarters battle and for longer-range engagements. The initial solicitation indicated that the SCAR-H would also be chambered for the7.62x39mm M43 Kalashnikov cartridge and 6.8x43mm Remington SPC cartridge. However, FN is not currently offering other calibers.

The Mk 20 Sniper Support Rifle is based on the 7.62mm Mk 17 rifle. If you mean strongest as in speed or FPS then it would be a "Sniper rifle". Most airsoft guns and rifles usually have an FPS around 300-400 but a few can be modified with stronger springs to reach over 500 FPS like the UTG Type 96 Army Digital Sniper w/Upgraded Spring . there are a few others that have the same capability.

To have the most powerful airsoft gun, it's not about what you can buy, it's about how you can upgrade it. But, out of the box, the Systema Super Max shoots 500 and the Aftermath Hitman shoots 650 I think

well the highest iv seen was a 800fps sniper (Co2) then again my friends heard of 1000fps but im not too sure
