It depends a great deal on where in Switzerland you are. All of these will work: Grazie - Italian Danke - German Merci - French And I would bet most of them would recognize 'Thank you' as well. (Or the smart alec version is you say Thank You in Switzerland the same way you say it in any other country!)

Danke Danke schoen Danke vielmal Danke/merci just to be covered for sure

Merci Merci vielmal Gratsi Thank you and I've even heard Gracias!

Sorry but there is no "Switzerland" language.

The main languages they speak are-

German - bitte

French - sil vous plait

Italian - per favore

Answer #2It depends on how you look at it and what definitions you make... in fact besides the Swiss language rumantsch (100%) the other official languages German, french and Italian have their Swiss dialect forms... now Swiss Italian sounds very different and contains a lot of real latin... and Swiss German is some kind of medieval German...

Now you could say that's all about dialects... yes, right. On the other hand these dialects are 100% Swiss and just looking at Swiss German one could say dutch (from the Netherlands) is a German dialect, too. And in fact dutch is not that much closer to Germany's German than the Swiss German...

But the swissgerman "bitte" is just the same as the German one... the Italian "per favore" is correct, but in french there are the "s'il vous plaît" (if you don't know someone) and the "s'il te plaît" (if you know someone).
