A star. --------------------------
Some stars are given numbers and other have Greek, Latin or Arabic names given to them (e.g. Rigel, Polaris, Betelgeuse etc.)
In the case of the sun, the star in the center of our solar system, it has the Latin name of 'Sol' .
Why Yes it does. It's name is Sol. In Latin and other languages, This name refers to as Sun. So that's it's TRANSLATED name. Sun. But yes if your looking for a more practical name but also it's REAL NAME, Then it's Sol.
The Sun is considered a star. It is a medium sized star but you could fit at least 9 Jupiter planets in it. Our sun is small right now compared to the size it will get. One day the sun will actually explode. It will first become a red giant (a stars biggest and final stage in its life) before exploding into dust. When is that day? I don't know for sure. But this is no lie, every star in space does this and when one star dies off, hundreds of years later a new one is made from the dust of the old star.
The Sun is the name of the Sun, it comes from the Latin word Sol
Yes, our sun is called Sol (Latin) and as such we live in the Sol-ar System.
There are other stars with planets but they are only referred to in reference to the parent star. The solar system by name is unique to our Sun, its planets and other heavenly boddies.
No. There is only one sun in our solar system.
It does. The "Solar System" is its name. The phrase "a solar system" may also be used by analogy, for other stars with planets.
Either "The Sun" or "Sol". ("Sol" is Latin for "The Sun".) When there is only one of something, you don't really NEED a name for it.
"The solar system."
Name the planets that do not exist in the solar system

Yes, because in space there's a lot of space and space is everywhere! The solar system is made up of space.
There is a bit of confusion here. Kepler is not the name of a planet but of a space telescope used to discover planets in other solar systems. Planets discovered with this telescope are given designations such as Kepler-22b. This telescope has been used to discovered hundreds of planets.
The sun and its family of planets has a description, not a name. It is "the solar system." The word "solar" means "pertaining to the sun." Thus "the solar system" is the system of objects and gases that pertain to the sun. The word "Sol," Latin for "the sun," is sometimes used as the name of our sun in fiction, but until we actually have populations resident in other solar systems, there is no need to give ours a name. It is "the" solar system, the way the navy of the United Kingdom is simply "The" Royal Navy. Only the others need names, to distinguish them from "the" original.

The only star in the solar system is the sun.
Dividing Space in Two: The study of Inner Space is Astronomy (Solar systems, novae and super-novae - and the many others that occur within Our Galaxy); while the study of [Outer - as in extra-galactic] Deep Space is Cosmology.
Solar means space and the Solar System is a system (with the moon, sun, planets, stars, etc.) so the Solar System is really a Space System.
Dusty Disk Systems, Hot Jupiter Systems, Non-planetary systems.

To the extent that "other solar systems" are referred to at all, they are referred to by the name of the central star. So if planets were discovered to be orbiting around the star Tau Ceti, it would be called the "Tau Ceti system".
