The 238A was made in the 1940's. Bolt-action shotguns dont sell very well these days, and the 238A typically brings around $80-$100 in normal used condition. sales@countrygunsmith.net

It would be a Stevens Model 238 manufactured between 1920 and 1948. The Ranger 101.2 is a Sears Roebuck designation.
The Ranger tradename was used by Sears Roebuck. Model 101.2 is the Savage model 238. You can't get an exact date on these, but it was probably sometime between 1945 and 1965. Value would be $100 or so.

I just purchased one from a gun shop in south eastern Pennsylvania for $75 it is in fair condition with a nonworking magazine, but it had been sitting in the shop for a long time. until i was dumb enough to walk in and buy it. So, to answer your question less than would make it worth sellling.

There is no Remington 238 caliber, If you mean .223, about $250, depending on condition.
