I babysit in central Connecticut and I have to say that it really depends on the age and experience of the sitter as well as the age of the children. I am 25 years old and have been sitting for over 10 years (it has helped me get through college and grad school!). I usually sit for families that have 2-4 children under the age of 5 and charge 12-15 dollars per hour. I don't know anyone that would charge less than $10 per hour, though an inexperienced teenager might command less than that.

At the very least, minimum wage. 1 dollar extra per child, and an additional 2 dollars an hour at night time. If you are sitting in a wealthier neighborhood you might get a bigger hourly rate.

Babysitters in Connecticut make around $10 per hour. By paying them a decent amount of money, they will often provide a better level of care and attention to the child.
