Different breeds have different size litters, but in general, the average size of a dog litter is about 6 puppies.

I agree some kinds of dogs have more but I know that a chihuahua has around 4 puppies

Six, but it varies from different breeds of dogs.

The average size litter for a dog is 6-8. And of course that depends on the breed and size of dog and the size of the puppies. My dog is a litter of 7!!
