Yes it is perfect for that, after about a year one may want to upgrade to a bigger bike though.
A Kawasaki ninja 250 is good for small to medium weight riders. The 250 is also a good bike because theres so many for sale for cheap
There's no such thing as a 'Suzuki Ninja' 'Ninja' is the trademarked name of a series of Kawasaki's sport bikes, Suzuki's sport bikes trademarked name is 'GSXR' e.g. A Kawasaki ZX-10R would be similar to a Suzuki GSXR-1000, there are a lot of different things on each bike but a lot of Suzuki and Kawasaki parts are interchangeable on various bikes.

1984 GPZ900R (development in 1982 - 83) and was the first Kawasaki to be marketed under the Ninja brand name in NA. Prior to that bike, most of Kawasaki standards or sport motorcycles were called GPZ. I have the 1984 900R and it has both the GPZ and Ninja names on different parts of the body.
The bike I see most often is the Kawasaki Ninja 250. It's a great starter bike with a great deal of power.
