Best way is to remove the bolt in the top engine mount's. that will allow you access to pull the engin forward there is a seconday hole in the top engine mount that you can put the bolt into to hold engin ahead until repair is finished. Just takes a little muscle to tilt engin forward.

Please do not attempt to follow the instructions above. Pulling the engine forward as suggested is very dangerous and hard on the other mounts and transmission. I researched this in the Chilton's manual which recommended removing the right fan, the bolts holding the compressor in place, and opening the oil cooling lines. I was able to get the starter out without opening the oil cooling lines.

THIS IS A RELATIVLY EASY JOB.FIRST DISCONNECT THE BATTERY.THE STARTER IS LOCATED IN THE FRONT OF THE MOTOR.ALL YOU NEED TO DO BESIDES UNBOLTING THE STARTER IS TO DISCONNECT THE TWO TRANNY COOLING LINES COMING OFF THE RADIATOR.THIS WILL GIVE ENOUGH ROOM TO WIGGLE THE STARTER IN AND OUT.YOU WILL LOSE SOME TRANNY FLUID, SO KEEP A CATCH UNDERNEATH AND REMEMBER TO REPLACE WHAT YOU WILL LOSE.THIS TOOK ME ABOUT 40 MINUTES TO COMPLETE.
