What excersise dogs need?

if your trying to teach it to sit push down on the butt a little till it is sitting down then give it a treat do that for about 10-30mins that worked for me i dont know if it will work for you if you are trying to teach a dog to lay down hold a treat down on the floor/ground then the dog will have to lay down to get it that also worked for me if you want to teach it to speak hold some treats in your hand the dog will make a sound[most of the time]when it does give it a treat

It depends on the type of dog. If it's a small dog, like a chihuahua, they'll get plenty of exercise running around the kitchen. If it's a bit bigger, like a Yorkie, take them on short walks, like around your block or give chew toys to them and play with them. If it's like the size of a beagle do the same as you would for a yorkie sized dog. If it's the size of a Golden Retriever , walk them a half a mile or play in the park with them at least four times a week. But if it's a REALLY hyper dog like a Border Collie you'll need a big backyard or open field to play with them. And if they're a super big dog like a great dane or saint bernard, take them on a walk each day around your neighborhood. If you hadn't noticed, walking your dog is the very best exercise for them.

Since Border Collies are herders they need lots of exercise, and a lot of serious play so they can exercise their instincts as well as their bodies. Make an obstacle course with jumps and tunnels and a teeter totter so he can show you how smart he is, and you can show him how proud you are of him. And don't forget the Frisbee!

Had I known the questioner was screen named horsegal I would have suggested running the dog with the horse, as long as the horse is agreeable. Don't let that doggie get kicked for nipping at the horse's hooves!

It really depends on the type of dog. For smaller breeds (1-26 lbs) one short brisk walk a day for 20 minutes might be all they need. For larger dogs (26-50), they might need 2 30 minute walks a day. It really depends on the size, the energy level, and the breed. If you ahve a dog that is constantly out of control, more walks would be better so that s/he can release some of that excess energy.
