Take the M60 bus that pulls up right outside the airport. This will cost $2 on a metro card which you can purchase from a machine right inside the airport. This bus stops at Colombia University. It takes about 30 minutes, and runs continuously.
LaGuardia is much closer and, there is a bus that runs directly from the airport past Columbia ... it only costs a couple of bucks.

There isn't an airport in the Bronx but the nearest airport is LaGuardia Airport.
LaGuardia Airport is the closest. LaGuardia is written as if it's one word because it's an Italian last name and someone wrote it himself*. LaGuardia Airport and LaGuardia Community College in New York are both named after former New York Governor Fiorello H. LaGuardia.
No La Guardia is still its own airport.
