Not sure what you mean here but Komodo dragons are part of a family called Monitor Lizards of the genus Varanus
Edit: I think he's referring to the collective noun/term of venery. like a flock of birds, or a herd of cows.Komodo dragons are in the lizard group, So I think the collective noun would be A Lounge of Komodo Dragons. However, Iguanas are also lizards, but I've heard a group of Iguanas is called a "Mess." Terms of venery are arbitrary at best... I guess it's whichever you like best.
How: The komodo dragons got there name from being natives to Komodo Island. Why: Every animal has a species name, so why not this gigantic lizard?
.Are you asking about komodo dragons?
Yes, but they have changed their name. They are now called Komodo Dragons...from the Island of Komodo.
Komodo dragons, otherwise known as monitor lizards, do not have wings. As the name suggests, they are lizards.
They primarily come from the Indonesian island of Komodo. They were seen as very large and scary lizards, so they were named dragons. The name has stuck, even though they are clearly nothing like mythical dragons.
Komodo Dragons can walk on walls, yes. However, despite it's name, a Komodo Dragon is not a dragon at all. It is a lizard, hence it's other name: The Monitor Lizard.
It means that it is a "dragon" that lives on several islands in Indonesia, one of which is Komodo. A Komodo Dragon.
I assume because they live on Komodo Island and some times people call a new species of lizards, dragons, so if you put them together you get a Komodo Dragon.
Komodo dragons are named komodo dragons because even though they don't have wings, their dragon-ish body makes them take on the appearance of a dragon. Komodo comes from the island they originate from.
Baby komodo dragons do not have any particular name: they are just baby komodo dragons. Some websites erroneously report that they are called "pups". No reputable sources confirm this.
