For much of the time the Red Sea is much the same colour as other seas. However, from time to time there are blooms of bacteria Trichodesmium erythraeum and these turn the water red.

Water is blue. It looks colourless because it is such a small amount of blue that you can only see it in very large quantities. e.g. the sea. Many people (e.g. science teachers) think that the sea is blue because of a relection of the sky, but, if you look at the sea on a cloudy day, it is still a bit blue. That bit of blue is because the large amount of water adds up to a visible amount of blue. Water is blue. Last I checked it was blue but can also appear with green in it or even black sometimes but for all other purposes its blue.

it is actually dark blue but there is a myth that the red sea is actually red but it just the things mother nature gave us to make it that way
