There is no actual cure for CFS, the only thing you can do is manage it. To manage it, you have to learn to rest, eat right, breathe right, get treated for all contributing factors such as chemical sensitivities, irritable bowel syndrome, get rid of household allergens such as mould, and avoid stress.

A prior answer here suggested you not do too much sports. Unless you were an athlete before you got sick with CFS, don't do any sports. Stay as active as you can without tiring yourself - if you tire yourself, you'll pay for it the next day with what we CFS'ers call "Crash and burn".

Some people have benefited from antiviral treatments for CFS; others have gotten sicker. Some people have benefited from "Graded Exercise Training" or GET, but mostly people who were not as sick as others, and some people have gotten worse. Do not exercise past the point of comfort! "Cognitive Behavior Training" or CBT also works for some people, especially if you get a trainer who spends time with you and knows what he or she is doing. Mostly CBT is a matter of learning to pace yourself and treat your body in a healthy manner.

Many supplements help alleviate the symptoms of CFS, but no one supplement works for everyone. For "brain fog", ginkgo biloba helps many; for energy, L-Carnitine may be helpful; B vitamins are a good idea; a good multi-vitamin with trace minerals will almost certainly be helpful.

If your CFS is caught early and you treat it right - REST (and I mean bed rest), eating well, supplements, etc. - you may get rid of it. Over half of the people with CFS never get fully, but can learn (with the help of CBT) to lead a rewarding life anyhow.

A prior post here said that "The cure for anything rests in your ability to find out the cause and reverse that." Unfortunately no one knows despite years of study just what causes CFS.
