In Bohr's model, electrons travel in a direct, determined path around the nucleus. In the modern model of the atom, electrons behave more like waves on a vibrating string. Basically the electron's path cannot be predetermined.

Bohr's Model the electrons all orbited in a perfect circle around the center of the atom on their orbital plane. In the Modern model quantum mechanics applies and the electrons are moving in a random probability based direction at all times. The electrons are basically constantly phasing from a particle to a wave state and back again. I hope this helps

Bohr's theory comes from a simpler time, when we still assumed that science was deterministic - that means that we could say that if A happens, then B will happen. If you apply 200 N force to the 50,000 kg rail car rail car, it will accelerate at a certain rate.

In modern small particle physics we now have Quantum Mechanics, which has been the most tested theory we've ever had, and it has always been right.

The modern model of the atom has electrons in waves or clouds that surround the nucleus rather than just electrons as particles that orbit the nucleus. These models represent the possibilities of where the electrons could be at any particular time. In the wave model, where the amplitude is the largest, the electrons are more likely to be in that position.
