At the most basic level, Computer Science is a "Hard" Science, well grounded in what is now known in the field of Mathematics as Information Theory. Computer Science (as a field) is concerned with developing new ideas around the use and design of computing systems, and with the mathematical concepts of computation and information.

Information Technology, on the other hand, is a practical Engineering discipline, concerned with implementing solutions to practical problems using current-day technology.

information technology careers are more about installing, maintaining, and improving computer systems, operating networks, and databases. Meanwhile, computer science is about using mathematics to program systems to run more efficiently, including in design and development.

This question is very tricky and needs to be answered very carefully.

The basic difference is that information technology is about transmitting information and gathering it, whereas computer science is something related to computers and only computer, such as software. IT people can be considered more of a general management subject.

The basic difference between IT and computer is that IT is mostly concerns with the management of organization by using computer as tool with diff softwares. while computer science is deal with implementation of software and hardware.

Computer Science refers to the science or details of computers - which includes the design of software (such as compilers, Operating Systems), design of hardware (such as RAM, CPU etc), networking etc.

Information Technology is the application of Computers towards organizing and efficient retrieval/reporting of information.

A useful, if somewhat crude analogy could be the difference between "heat, cold, humidity, water "etc (which is like computer science) and Meteorology (which uses the information about cloud, humididy etc to predict weather)

The former is a basic science and the latter is an applied science.

Computer technology is hardware, software etc as a WHOLE. Programming is usually a "language" in which a certain program or piece of hardware is given instructions on how to respond or run to certain inputs. Computer science is similar to that of computer technology in that it covers a wide range of technology, It refers to the computer as a whole.

As per Indian schooling system and job seekers (hiring consultants), not much of a difference.

Information Technology: Specific technologies associated with collecting, manipulation and conveying information. This stream came into existenceduring internet age and became super famous (and also due to greediness of Engg colleges you know extra stream, so extra seats, extra money), kind of a younger sibling to CSE. Any tech highly dependent on information like Computer Networking, Internet technologies, mobile technologies (programs ), Computer Graphics, digital marketing and promotion, e-commerce and many more come under this stream. Each of the mentioned topics that have revolutionized by debut of net. So, it would be wise to call this flow as Internet Technologies rather than Information Technologies.

Computer Science and Engineering: The old school flow of CS, majorly focusing on Operating Systems, Memory Management, Computer Architecture, Theory of Computing (Automata), Data Structures, Algorithms, Distributed Computing to mention several. Even IT folks undergo the some of them as a foundation but they don't have to go to deeper levels.

Finally According to my interpretation of the job market, under two roles have always proven to be high in demand and large paying:

UI/UX/Full Stack Web Developers: should really be arriving from IT stream as per my justifications

Data Scientist/Engineer/Analyst: ought to be arriving from CSE flow According to my rationale

Which is easier? Nothing is easy or even a cake walk and for placements there are lots of factors besides only IT/CSE, so select wisely.

Information Technology:

the study or use of systems (especially computers and telecommunications) for storing, retrieving, and sending information.

Computer Science:

the study of the principles and use of computers.

Looks like Information Systems refer to the software side

and Computer technology refer to the hardware side.

Databases, Networking, and Operating Systems. I believe programming splits between the three through how the programmer uses the API. There probably is a different answer, but i feel that this is the most correct.

What is the difference between computer science and computer programming?

Computer Science is the study of problem solving with computers/computational methods.Computer programming is part of this problem solving process that makes up the field of computer science.Computer programming is just a small subset of computer science.Computer science encompasses not just algorithms and programming, but also operating systems, compilers, network protocols, database systems, artificial intelligence, computer generated graphics, types of programming languages, and much more.Answer:To put it simply, computer science is the study of everything that relates to a computer. It's more scientific with lots of theory, math, algorithms, etc. Since the field is so wide, there are a variety of computer science degree programs you can choose from based on your aptitude, preference, and career goals. For instance, many colleges offer a computer science degree with a choice of emphasis in networking, programming, social media technology, information systems security and more.Computer programming is a sub-field of computer science and deals with the more practical aspects of designing, developing and writing programs for the Internet, intranet and mobile applications. Information technology degrees will help you focus on understanding computer systems, hone your skills in problem-solving. Since technology keeps changing, finding solutions and seeking faster and better ways systems is always a top priority for industries, private corporations and government agencies.
