One of the differences is with respect to chip.

VLSI- How to develop a chip

Embedded- How to use the chips to produce an efficient system.

VLSI - measurement of complexity of chip in terms of number of transistors in one circuit/chip

Embedded is a computing platform that is formed by using proper logic to put together n number of VLSI

There are huge differences between the two even though they might do the very exact same job in some projects but the main difference is that in FPGAs we use HDL (hardware description language) on the same piece of hardware while on Embedded Systems you use a programming language(e.g. C) and the hardware you need for your project

What is the main difference between micro controller and fpga?

micro controller is software and fpga is hardware

What are the difference between FPGA and DSP?

The major difference is that, a DSP is a chip which can be programmed based on our requirement, whereas an FPGA can be programmed to design a chip for our own purpose. FPGA can also be reprogrammed based on the changes in our application.

What is difference between fpga and microprocessor?

Now FPGAs are having builtin processor like PPC and more either in hardcore or softcore. Main difference between processor and FPGA is execution Processor is sequencial execution but FPGAs are concurrent so speed of FPGA is much higher than a high speed processor.

What is the difference between plc and fpga?

fpga and plc are two completely different things. FPGA( field programmable gate arrays) are building blocks of electronic sysytem where as plc are systems. Comparing these two is like comparing engine with car.

What is the difference between fpga and micro-controllers according to power consumption?

cannot say, too many variables.

Which is more better between FPGA and FPAA?

FPGA and FPAA are both very different in nature and APLLICATIONS also.

What is the difference between FPGA and PSOC?

PSoC devices are more user friendly than FPGA, But PSoC are limited in functionalities comparable to FPGA as FPGA can have any digital block but PSoC has some limited Digital blocks pre defined in the flash memory.FPGA requires VHDL and verilog to be programmed where as PSoC can be easily programmed just like any other ordinary microcontroller.PSoC surpassed the FPGA as PSoC now-a-days are containing almost all blocks that are usually needed and thus makes them more flexible than FPGA chips.

Founction of fpga?

fpga work in 1-image processing 2-data mining 3-signal processing 4-embed system

What is the difference between information system and embedded system?

Information systems:- Information System include databases that include useful "information". Information Systems is the discipline concerned with the development, use, application and influence of information systems. An information system, following a definition of Langefors, is a technologically implemented medium for recording, storing, and disseminating linguistic expressions, as well as for drawing conclusions from such expressions. The technology used for implementing information systems by no means has to be computer technology. A notebook in which one lists certain items of interest is, according to that definition, an information system. Likewise, there are computer applications that do not comply with this definition of information systems. Embedded systems are an example.Embedded Systems:-Embedded systems include small computers that make things work, such as the computer in your radio, television or the computer that controls your vehicle engine. An embedded system is a computer systems that is part of a larger system.Examples: * Washing machine * Car engine control * Mobile phone ES Characteristics* Often mass products * 98% of the processors are in ES * Sometimes very specialized systems * No or minimal user interface * Resource constraints * Must usually fulfill strict timing * Usually runs forever (no reboot) For further reading refer to this- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embedded_Systems

Is FPGA is used in mobiles?

Yes, FPGA is used in some ways in mobiles.

Which is faster fpga or cpld?

FPGA is sutiable for complicated arch than CPLD. CPLD is very tiny when compared to the logic of FPGA so CPLD is faster.

Why BPSK system is implemented in spartan 3e FPGA kit?

BPSK is a modulation technique. It is used to modulate and demodulate the required signal. It can be virtually implemented in MATLAB. But to understand its physical behaviour, it needs to be implemented on FPGA board.
