Let's say a policy has a 10% deductible. That means that losses less than 10% are not paid. Further, if a loss is greater than 10%, it is reduced by the amount of the deductible. (ie the insurer pays 15% if the loss is 25% of the limit)

If a policy has a 10% franchise deductible, that means that losses less than 10% are not paid (same as above). However, if the loss is greater than 10%, it is as if the deductible did not exist. (ie the insurerer pays 25% if the loss is 25% of the limt).

What is the adult-equivalent household size?

It's an aggregate indicator for a household size. It's used mostly in analyses of household attributes as a substitute for the straightforward household size or simply the number of adults in a household since both these can give inaccurate indications. The OECD approach is using weights that count as 1.0 for the first adult, 0.7 for the second and subsequent adults, and 0.5 for each child under 15. The modified OECD or EU approach is using 1.0 for the first adult, 0.5 for the second and subsequent and 0.3 for each child. There are more elaborate weights in use however from national governements, but as long as the above weights are used uniformly inside a sample, they can be legitimate substitutes of the simpler head-counting or adult-counting.

What does annual deductible mean for health insurance?

The annual deductible is the aggregate maximum amount that the insurance policy requires the insured(s) to pay over the course of a year in deductibles. Stated otherwise, a deductible will normally be incurred for each physician's visit, medical test, or other procedure. There may come a point however, during the course of the year, when the total of all of those deductibles meet or exceed the annual deductible (specified in the policy). At that point the annual deductible will have been met and until the start of the new policy year, no further individual deductibles will have to be paid.
