Christianity has many divisions, or 'denominations'. The oldest existing denominations are the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Churches. The Protestant Churches broke away from the Roman Catholic Church in the 1500s.
Members of all these denominations are Christians, whether they are Catholic, Orthodox or Protestant.
AnswerThe only difference would arise is when the person who is a member of a Protestant church is not a Christian but only a church member. Not all churches require people to be Christians in fact, to be members. Many in fact are not. Many churches also do not require their leaders and pastor/preachers etc to be Christians either
Further to this, many Protestants are in fact Christians (as are many Catholics) and in theory at least there ought not to be any difference between a Protestant and a Christian.
Protestants are the descendants of the heretics who left the Catholic Church in the sixteenth century to begin their own ecclesial unions.
Thus any particular Protestant might be a Christian, and some Christians might be protestant, but they are not the same thing. Most Christians belong to the Catholic Church.

Christianity is the religion that Protestantism is a part of. Many people also consider Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodox churches to be part of Christianity. So you could say that Protestantism is like a "section" of Christianity, one expression of belief in Christianity, which differs in some beliefs from some other Christians. Christianity is the general term that applies to all who are Christians. People were first called Christians in Antioch, Syria, during the ministry of Paul the Apostle. Protestantism is a branch of Christianity, a denomination, a group of people who believe a certain way and identify themselves as one unit called Protestantism. Just as a tree has many branches, each branch of Christianity has a different name for those who believe that certain doctrine that is taught therein.

Notes to above answer:
I an not sure Martin Luther caused the entire split but the Catholic denomination was not formed until about 325 AD. Martin Luther was the first person to realize after so many years that we are saved by Grace not by works or anything a man can do. The people that first believed his reformation message were called Lutherans to the best of my knowledge.
What he believed, is in the Bible.
The difference between a catlic and and a normal christian is that cathlics believe Mary (Jesus's mother) is God the one we should worship when she is just a human being
Whoever wrote that is obviously does not know anything about his own faith. All Catholics are Christian, but not all Christians are Catholic. Like all dogs are mammals, but not all mammals are dogs. Catholics DO NOT believe Mary is God. She is the mother of Jesus, who was both God and Man. One big difference is that Catholics follow the Pope, while others don't. This answer (the first one) is an example of how the different sects fight each other more than loving God.Awesome second answer! I put this down as a minor contributor and I hope others recommend you also! As I grow older and find out more about different sects of the Christian faith, I realize how similar they all are. The Pope and confessing sins to a priest are the only things I have seen different between the sects. There are many differences between a Protestant Christian and a Roman Catholic Christian, thay believe basicly the same thing, but in different ways. The main difference, is that Catholics worship the saints, specially Mary, while Protestants dont. Catholics do this because Mary was Jesus' earthly mother, but Protestans argue this by saying that The Bible says (and it is true) that you must only worship God, which is made up by three persons: The Father, The Son (Jesus), and The Holy Spirit. Hope this answered your question!!! :)
Protestant Christiabity is a branch off of Christianity, which split away from Roman Catholicism thanks in part to men like Martin Luther, who were unhappy with doctrines and actions within the Roman Catholic church.
No, protestants are Christians, they derived from people who no longer wanted to be under the catholic rule of the Pope
There is no difference, Catholics are Christians, if you are asking about the difference between a particular protestant wedding and a Christian Catholic wedding, then you should ask that.

Catholics are Christian.Roman Catholic AnswerThere is no difference between a Catholic and a Christian according to the traditional interpretation of these two words, unfortunately, since the time of the protestant revolt, heretics have appropriated the word "Christian" to mean someone who believes in their own version of Jesus Christ and their own version of the Bible, and excludes Catholics.

Roman Catholic AnswerNo difference, Catholic and Christian is the same thing. I imagine that you are asking the difference between a Catholic/Christian Bible and a protestant Bible, which protestants may refer to as a Christian Bible. Protestants have removed a number of books from the Old Testament as they were uncomfortable with not believing things that the Bible said, so they changed the Bible.
