When you see a volcano there are usually if it is not dormant, hot air flumes, these are emitted by vents. Vents are part of the volcano and are mostly in the crater. A crater is a cup shaped hole, made by the previous eruption. Craters are also caused when an explosion happens.
a vent is when magma rises through holes in the earths crust. And A Rift forms between the plates

Magma usually refers to molten rock when it is still underground, and a crater is a cup shaped depression in the surface whether in a volcano or not. If a crater were full of molten rock we'd call it lava. It might be fed by a magma pool below the surface.
A spatter cone is formed of molten lava ejected from a vent of a volcano. Expanding gases in the lava fountains tear the liquid rock into irregular gobs that fall back to earth, forming a heap around the vent. The partly liquid rock splashes down and over the sides of the developing mound is called spatter. Because spatter is not fully solid when it lands, the individual deposits are irregular in shape and weld together as they cool, and in this way differ from cinder and ash. A cinder cone is a volcanic cone built almost entirely of loose volcanic fragments called cinders. They are built from particles and blobs of congealed lava ejected from a single vent. As the gas-charged lava is blown violently into the air, it breaks into small fragments that solidify and fall as cinders around the vent to form a circular or oval cone. Most cinder cones have a bowl-shaped crater at the summit.
There is a crater on the top of a moon and a volcano.
A concave hollow is a crater. In a dormant volcano, the empty magma pit is called a caldera.
Three parts of a volcano are the base, the flank, and the vent. Some additional parts include the sill, the crater, the summit, and the cone.

Volcanic crater.
A volcanic vent. There may also be a crater (a concave depression or pit). This is known as a volcanic vent. It may sit at the base of a volcanic crater.
A crater can also be called a vent, and it is the funnel shaped opening at the top of a volcano which allows magma to escape as lava. The magma chamber is the hollow deep within the volcano which is supposedly linked to the core of the planet, bringing up molten rock from the middle of earth to be taken up the vent tube of the volcano to be released to the air.

A vent tube connects the magma chamber to the vent or crater of the volcano, hence allowing the magma to be released from the volcano and become lava.
A single vent is down the middle A double vent has a vent near the sides
