The Academy Awards (Oscars) are presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). They give out awards only for excellence in cinema. The Academy is divided into five branches: actors, writers, directors, producers, and technicians.
The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) awards are presented by the screen actors guild. They present awards for excellence in cinema and television, but they only present awards to actors; for example, they don't have an award for best director or best art direction.
