full screen cuts off the left and right sides of the picture to make it fit on a 4:3 aspect ration tv screen. (it makes it square more or less) while widescreen actually shows you the entire picture that was originally shot.
Widescreen is a 16X9 aspect ratio, the same as most TVs today, computer screens, etc. So if you watch something in widescreen, it fills up the screen. It is called widescreen, because the aspect ratio of video and movies used to be 4X3 (the older square TVs)
Anamorphic widescreen is typically 2.35:1 aspect ratio. This is where you get the black bars above and bellow the screen. That size is the standard size for cinema screens, and this is the size movies are filmed with. People get annoyed by the black bars, but the full screen cuts off way more, because they were filmed to be fitted for a wider screen, and when played on a 16X9 screen, the video shows letterboxing (the black bars) Also remember that people may refer to anamorphic widescreen as just widescreen and vice versa.

The PLC-XU38 (one of the models of the PRO Xtrax series) can display widescreen anamorphic for DVD video. It can also display 720p and 1080i signals, but the LCD panel only has a 1024 x 768 resolution.
anamorphic stretches normal DVD 16:9 to fill the entire screen instead of having the black bars across the top and bottom of the screen
Anamorphic format is a term in cinematography that describes the technique of using 35 mm film with a non-widescreen aspect ratio. This stretches the picture vertically to fill the entire film frame.
Anamorphic format was created in 1953.
Originally, anamorphic was a geological term describing certain types of metamorphic rock. The word anamorphic is derived from the Greek word anamorphōsis which means transformation
