Centromere is the 'waist' of a chromosome. The structure where mitotic spindles attach to the kinetochore while centrosome is an organelle where microtubules are formed in some cells. Centrosome contains a paired centriole.

∙ 12y agoNot really in animal cells. We do not understand the centrioles all that well. When the centrioles are lasered out of existence the centrosomes are still able to erect the spindle apparatus needed for mitosis and meiosis.

What attaches to chromosomes during mitosis?
During mitosis, the chromosomes are pulled away by spindle fibers that come from each pair of centrioles at the opposite ends of the cell. The reason this happens is so that each new daughter cell gets the same chromosomes as the parent cell had.
