What is the difference between dominant and recessive trait?
For example, maybe you have blond hair. That means the dominant trait is blond. Recessive is when you have maybe a black hair gene in you but it is not as DOMINANT which makes it the one that is their. The dominant trait either comes from your mom or dad and the one that it didn't come from is the recessive. :DD
Every chromosome in a normal cell is paired, with one half coming form the male parent and the other form the female parent. The chromosome contains genes a dominant gene will express if either (or both) of the chromosomes contain it while a recessive gene will only express if both the chromosomes contain it.
Dominant- Describes the allele that is fully expressed.
Recessive_ Describes an allele that is expressed only when no dominant allele is present in an individual.
Dominant traits are the traits that mask the recessive traits. The dominant traits are stronger than recessive!
A dominant trait is expressed even if there is only one gene for it - a recessive trait must have both genes the same in order to be expressed.
A recessive trait is a trait that is not shown or expressed physically but is retained within the persons genes, whereas a dominant trait is a trait which opresses the recessive trait and is prodominantly shown or expressed physically. For example it is possible for two red-haired parents, both with recessive dark haired genes, to have a dark haired child. they must both have the recessive gene or the dominant gene of red - hair will be expressed in the child
Dominant traits are the traits that mask the recessive traits. The dominant traits are stronger than recessive!
the dominant trait is the stronger one and the recessive trait is the weaker one
An individual must have 2 recessive alleles in order for a trait to show up. One must only have 1 dominant allele in order for a trait to occur.
recessive
A trait that masks another trait is called dominant, or a dominant trait.
It is a recessive trait
When two recessive genes are inherited, and the portion of recessive inheritance is 51% or greater in favor of the recessive trait.
A living thing with a dominant and a recessive gene for a trait is heterozygous. This individual will display the dominant phenotype for that trait but may have offspring that display the recessive trait.
A dominate trait will most likely take over the recessive.
False because a living thing that shows a dominant trait can not be homozygous recessive. If it is homozygous recessive it will show recessive trait. A living thing that shows dominant trait may be homozygous dominant or hetrozygous.
A trait is dominant if it continues to be expressed in the heterozygous as well as the homozygous state. Recessivetraits are only expressed in the homozygous state.
