Italian-style gelato is made with fruit and water (sorbetto) or dairy-based gelato is made with milk having about 3-5% butterfat milk, unlike American ice cream that uses 10-18% butterfat cream. There are other variations.
American ice cream is whipped and more airy and gelato is more churned and rich. Both taste great!
Ice creams are made of pure and fresh creams with natural flavorings. These premium ice creams has very little air added into it.
Gelato or Italian ice cream is made more of pure milk and less cream so they contain lesser percentage of butterfat content.
Both desserts are creamy and tasting though.
