A laptop is a small compact form factor PC that is portable enough to sit on your lap, a desktop PC is larger with separate parts designed to be static and sit on your desktop.
The short answer is that you don't. Laptops are limited in upgradeable parts, typically only memory and hard-drives. Video cards on laptops are not plug in cards like a desktop.
Desktop computers have many advantages over laptops! They are often less expensive for the same specs, they are more easily upgraded, and faulty parts like the keyboard, mouse, or monitor are more easily replaced.
There are many differences between desktops and laptops. Laptops are smaller and lighter and therefore can be moved around easily for convenience. Desktops, on the other hand, are sturdier as they are bigger and are probably a safer option for people who are prone to accidents.
Cheaper laptops often have what is called integrated graphics. This is cheaper than having a separate graphics card, but has worse performance. If you pay enough, you can get a laptop that is just as good as a desktop, but remember it costs more to make the parts small enough to fit inside a laptop, so it will be more expensive than the equivalent desktop.

Desktop and laptop computers are similar in the fact they are both computer they both can do the same tasks. Really the only difference is that a loptop is meant for "on the go" and a desktop just stays at home. Besides harware and some other technical stuff these are the only diffrences.
Hewlett Packard (HP) manufactures known products like Laptops, Desktop, net books, and also the parts of it. They also have printers, Pocket Pcs and Cameras.
No difference, just from different parts of the country.
There really isn't much difference between O'Reilly automotive parts and those purchased from Autozone. They are both after market parts manufacturers, as opposed to OEM parts manufacturers. The pricing is fairly similar, so there really isn't much difference between the two brands of parts.

Usually laptop computers have a worse performance when compared to desktop computers, considering both are in the same price range. What happens is that laptops have to sacrifice speed for the smaller form factor and battery longevity, so even when some parts have the same product series on their specifications, they perform worse in laptops because they draw less power. The more expensive laptops in bigger form factors (17"+ screen and US$1500+) usually have almost comparable performance to a US$900 desktop computer. However, smaller laptops in the US$1500 perform as well as a US$600 desktop computer.
