parliamentary democracy can vote for one representative who will pick an official called a prime minster. Representative democracy gets to pick their own representative and don't have to have an official. That's the difference between parliamentary and representative democracy.

Well Parliamentary democracy is a form OF democracy. Democracy is just the broad term for when people have political power, and choose how they want to be governed. A parliamentary democracy, is democracy (people choosing how they want to be governed), but with a parliament! What is a parliament you might ask? Think of it this way, in the US, there is the congress, which is separate from the president. the president is the leader of the country, and the congress is sort of like the check/balance. While, in a parliamentary democracy like the UK, the REAL "leader" of the country is the head of the parliament, while the queen is just a figurehead. So if the United States were a parliamentary democracy, the speaker of the house (nancy pelosi) would basically BE the "leader" of the country. It's a bit difficult to explain. As opposed to the President (executive branch) being separated from the congress (legislative branch), the congress (legislative branch) would be the head, ruling body. so the leader in congress, or legislative body would be the leader basically. check wikipedia too for a more detailed answer.
