That I know, its the same thing. Ground pepper is black peppercorns ground up.
I think some recipes ask for both for the reason that ground black pepper penetrates food differently than just having the whole corn there. Freshly ground pepper from the peppercorns also tastes a lot better
Black pepper and Chili peppers are two very different items, both used to add spice to different types of food.
Black pepper is what you sprinkle on food. It comes in a shaker that matches the salt shaker, or can be ground at home with a device called a pepper mill. Black Pepper comes from ground up pepper corns. Black pepper is put into or onto mild dishes to add a little zing. If you ate some plain black pepper your tongue would burn but would quickly cool with drinking water or other beverage.
Chili peppers are sort of like vegetables and are EXTREMELY HOT. They are the spicy ingredient in hot sauce. Chili peppers are used in hot climates of the world due to their preserving qualities. They were not originally used for adding spice or 'zing' to a dish and can only be eaten when they are very diluted. If you ate a plain chili pepper you would die (or wish you could because your mouth and throat would be on FIRE).
NOTE: It is NOT recommended for ANY spice to be eaten by itself. A spice should be eaten on or in food.
Yes, but a bell pepper and a jalapeno pepper are completely different things.

black pepper
White pepper is from exactly the same plant as black pepper (Piper Nigrum), sometimes called "peppercorns". White pepper is actually a black peppercorn, but with the shell removed - this means that white pepper is slightly mellower in taste. White pepper has the advantage that, when used in a dish where ground black pepper would be visible, it can be used for a more aesthetically pleasing result. For example, when black pepper is used to season scrambled eggs, it leaves visible black specks. This can be unnerving to a diner who would not usually expect to find black specks in their food; using white pepper negates this situation without compromising on taste.
Black pepper consists of ground dried peppercorns, which are the tiny fruits of the pepper plant Piper nigrum.
Salt is a chemical compound and Pepper is ground black pepper. but some one had to be the first one to ground the pepper
Black pepper can be served as whole peppercorns, and coarsely or finely ground.
Both black & white pepper originate from the same source. They come from the peppercorns of the plant pepper nigrum. The difference is in the way they are harvested. Black pepper comes from peppercorns that are harvested when green & allowed to dry in the sun until they blacken. White pepper comes from peppercorns that are allowed to ripen fully before picking & then are soaked in water to remove the outer hull.
