Matter have two essential types of properties, those are physical properties and chemical properties. Among its physical properties are smell, color, freezing point and boiling point, density, opacity and viscosity. Among chemical properties are reactivity with water, PH, electromotive force and heat of combustion.

One of the characteristic properties of an element is that consists of atoms that has the same number of protons. The other characteristic is that it has a distinctive atomic number. The last characteristic is that it cannot be decomposed in the chemical reaction.

The list of the physical and chemical characteristics of each element would be a very lengthy one. This forum would probably not support it. But an investigator would do well to use the link below to an interactive Periodic Table of elements. Each "tile" on the table is a link to a post on that element, and the physical and chemical characteristics can be found within that post.

All elements have physical and chemical properties, some are synthetic and not found in nature but none the less are real and so do have properties.
