Sodium hydroxide is a strong base with the chemical formula NaOH. Ammonia water is usually a solution of NH3 and H2O mixed together to form NH4OH,. This is usually the stuff people clean with and is also a strong base. Ammonia (the gas) is just NH3.

1: Ammonium hydroxide is a nonmetallic weak base while sodium hydroxide is a strong base. 2: the 1st exists only in water while later also exist in solid state. 3: on heating 1st evolves ammonia gas while latter is highly stable towards heat. 4: the 1st do not reacts with semi metals as zinc, tin and aluminum while latter dissolves these metals.

Sodium hydroxide is a base, so it has a higher pH than hydrochloric acid. Acids are below 7 on the pH scale and bases are above 7 on the pH scale.
