The Sith are a cult derived from the Dark Jedi Exiles interbreeding witht the Sith race. The combination of the two led to the creation of Dark Side knowledge that is commonly called Sith knowldge. The Dark Side is the side of the Force more commonly associated with passionate and strong feelings. The Empire is the former Republic only under Palpatine's direct and complete control, and Darth is a title of a Sith.(Not a Dark Jedi)

The dark side
The antagonists, who are pulled into the Dark Side of the Force, are: Darth Vader (Sith name of Anakin Skywalker) Palpatine (Senator, later Chancellor and Emperor aka Darth Sidious) Count Dooku (Jedi master who trained Yoda, aka Darth Tyranus) Darth Maul (Sith minion of Palpatine who kills Qui-Gon Jinn)
Jedi who are Dark-side users call themselves Sith, so yes.
Obi-wan never used the dark side of the force to defeat Darth Maul. Not in the fight on Naboo and not on the fight on Tatooine.

Darth Marr was a Human male Dark Lord of the Sith and a member of the Sith Empire's ruling Dark Council during the Great Galactic War, Cold War, and Galactic War with the Galactic Republic. A fearsome warrior and stalwart defender of the Empire, Darth Marr was born in 3702 BBY and assumed a seat on the Dark Council in his early twenties, leading the Sphere of Defense of the Empire as he drove back entire armies and halted Republic offensives during the Great War. By the end of the war in 3653 BBY, Marr had trained an apprentice by the name of Darth Lachris to the rank of Sith Lord and was one of only seven remaining Councilors. He continued to strengthen Imperial defenses and prepare for the inevitable conflict throughout the Cold War, distancing himself from the power plays and treachery that plagued the Council and weakened the Empire.

The dark side
Darth Vader joined the dark side because he was fooled into thinking that by joining the dark side, and becoming Darth Sidious's apprentice, he could save his wife, Padme, from dying, which, he feared she would because of a vision he had of her dying in child birth.
