What is the difference between the scots-irish and the scots-highlanders?

Wiki User

Scots-highlanders are the present, or formerly, Gaelic speaking inhabitants.

Scots-Irish are descendants of a colonization of northern Ireland that took place in the 1600s. Called "Ulster Scots" outside of the USA. They are largely descended from Lowlanders rather than Highlanders.
