Urea is a solid, colorless, odorless compound used as a raw material in the chemical industry, especially in fertilizer production.

It is also produced in the liver in people and animals as a breakdown product of nitrogen-containing compounds (primarily amino acids, the building blocks which make up proteins). It is removed from the body in the urine, and to a small degree, in sweat.

Urine is a mixture of water, electrolytes (like sodium, potassium, chloride) and waste products (like urea) that are removed from the body by the kidneys, passed down through the ureters to the bladder, then through the urethra to the outside of the body (micturition or urination).
