Western and eastern Europe differ in a lot of ways, from climate to religion and politics.

Western Europe is warmer. It has predominantly Latin and Germanic languages, with Christian religions: Roman Catholic in the south and protestant in the north. It also has democratic political stability and it's where most of Europe's richest countries are.

Eastern Europe is colder, with predominantly Slavic languages, although Romania has a Latin-language and Greek has it's own origin. The predominant religion is Christian, with some Roman Catholic regions in the center, protestant in the north, and Orthodox in the east. Islam is also substantially represented in the south and east. The region is less politically stable than Western Europe, with conflicts in Kosovo, Dictatorship in Belarus and border controversies between Georgia and Russia, among other issues.

Western Europe has mainly an oceanic climate while Eastern Europe has mainly a continental climate. An oceanic climate is defined as mild to warm summers with cold to mild winters, and there is also an absence of a dry season. A continental climate is defined as a noticeable contrast between seasons, having hot summers and cold winters.

Continental Europe refers to mainland Europe, disregarding islands. Europe continental is something I have never heard of and something that does not exist as to my research. It is most likely the same as Continental Europe.

Europe is a continent going from the Atlantic Ocean to the mountain range known as the Urals, which is Russia. Western Europe is just a geographical term relating to the western part of that. It has also been used politically to refer to countries that were not part of the Soviet block of countries from the end of World War II until the end of the 1980s. Even then, those countries were geographically on the western side of the continent.

You can define it as two geographical regions. Usually the terms are used to distinguish the former communist nations that would have been in eastern Europe and the non-communist nations of western Europe, in the aftermath of World War II.
